The gaming scene is a pretty promising industry in Pakistan, but right now it’s pretty scarce. However, it can be greatly improved if some factors are eliminated from the equation.
Exposure to gaming
Gaming is considered a waste of time by most people and they are quite right so because E-sports recently started gaining traction. Still, it will take some time for people to fully accept the phenomenon of gaming and people can earn from it. There is a lack of exposure to gaming. Launching of an E-sports academy will definitely help change this mindset, albeit, slowly.
Lack of facilities
Pakistan is considered as a third world country and it quite rightly so, is. The country faces many crises. Energy, economy, fuels are only the most major ones. How does one power the hardware capable of running games when there is not enough power to go around fulfilling the basic lighting needs of the country? There are not many facilities, such as dedicated servers to host gaming matches. There is definitely a need to launch servers dedicated to gaming. Once there are servers that can host games, pings will definitely improve across the country.
State of infrastructure
Moreover, there is a lack of infrastructure of the internet, both guided (wired) and unguided (wireless). Fiber optic network only exists in a handful of cities. The majority of the country is getting its internet on a network of copper wires. There exists a monopoly of PTCL, who takes more money than the service it provides. Although, new companies like Stormfiber, Transworld, Nayatel, Fiberlink have started to break the monopoly by providing decent service against value for money. Things are looking on the uppity side for once as far as internet speeds are concerned. Then again, these are only accessible in metropolitan cities of the country. Once they expand their network to the rest of the country, only then can we get decent downloading and uploading speeds.
